About UsThe QUT Marrikala Sailing Club is a sailing club run by students for students. We love sailing in all of its forms, from simple sailing at slow speeds admiring all the beauty of the Queensland coastline and lakes to extreme sailing at high speeds in full harness flying metres above the water. But all this sailing is merely the tip of the iceberg, we enjoy all other water sports including skiing, wakeboarding, tubing, fishing, swimming, wind surfing and heaps more. As fun as all this is, it's nothing without the socializing, drinking, partying and meeting of new people involved in our sailing weekends. We have huge bon-fires, Aussie BBQ's, Fire twirling, and lots of beer to complete the experience. We pride ourselves on not falling into the 'Sailing Club' cliche; we do not sip our $100 wine and compare Swiss bank accounts, we are all students like you. We are not discriminatory towards any nationalities, gender, religions, or sailing experience. Even if you as much about sailing as Elton John knows about boobs, you are more than welcome. We can teach you all you need to know. Most of our sailing occurs every second Sunday from Woody Point, Redcliffe. These sail days are a great way to get to know other members of the club, learn to sail, and enjoy a BBQ & swim at the picturesque Redcliffe. Three or four times during semester we have weekend getaways to different parts of Queensland. These often include (but are not limited to) Boreen Point, Lake Cootharaba and Poona, The Great Sandy Straights. Then at the end of semester we go away for larger, week-long (get over exams) trips, often to the real prize winning destinations such as Fraser Island or the Whitsundays. So come along to witness the magic that is the QUT Marrikala Sailing Club! |
